Snowmobiling in Park City at Daniel’s Summit Lodge offers an exhilarating adventure just outside of town, with 30 miles of groomed trails. It was the perfect way to experience the winter wonderland still blanketing the area. The thrill of zipping through the frosted forests, with the crisp mountain air hitting my face, made for an unforgettable day.
My husband and I just skipped town to head to Park City for the weekend. All the slopes had just closed for the season, so we looked for another type of adventure to get into. There was still plenty of snow on the ground in mid-April, so I called around and found a great spot to go snowmobiling in Park City—something I had never tried before.

To Get There
Daniel’s Summit Lodge is located about 40 minutes from Park City, making it an easy drive for anyone staying in the area. To get there, take U.S. Route 40 east and enjoy the scenic views of the Wasatch Mountains. The lodge is well-marked and easy to find, even in snowy conditions. If you’re flying into Salt Lake City, it’s about an hour’s drive.
The Best Time to Go Snowmobiling
The best time for snowmobiling in Park City at Daniel’s Summit Lodge is typically from December through mid-April, depending on snow conditions. Since we went in mid-April, I was surprised at how much snow remained, making it ideal for an off-season adventure. If you prefer fewer crowds, aim for a weekday excursion.
About the Experience
Once we arrived at Daniel’s Summit Lodge, we received a quick introduction to riding and then were let loose, guide-free, to explore on our own. This was one of my favorite aspects of the experience—no rigid schedule, just the freedom to roam at our own pace
The trails wind through the mountains, offering a mix of open plains and dense, snow-covered forests. We sped along the trails through naked treelines, hills, slopes, and turns. The wide trails, about 14 feet across, were well-groomed and easy to navigate, even for a first-timer like me.

With a solid three hours of exploration ahead of us, we barely saw another person on the trails. The solitude made the experience even more magical, as we felt completely immersed in the snowy wilderness. If you opt for a half-day rental, you can stop at the lodge’s restaurant for a meal. We warmed up with some hearty comfort food, enjoying a bowl of chili and a slice of pecan pie before heading back out.

Toward the end of the loop trail, we reached vast open plains of untouched snow. This was where we could really let loose, hitting high speeds across the powder. The thrill of pushing the throttle and feeling the machine roar to life was exhilarating! But I learned the hard way to watch for unexpected bumps—one nearly sent me flying over the handlebars. Thankfully, I recovered, laughing at the adrenaline rush that came with it.
