Krka Falls
The highlight of Krka National Park is undoubtedly the series of cascading waterfalls at Skradinski Buk. The moment you step into the park, the sound of rushing water welcomes you, setting the tone for an unforgettable day. The main pool beneath the falls looks like something out of a dream, with seafoam green and turquoise hues.
Swimming in the pool is one of the most popular activities here, but timing is key. I highly recommend arriving early and jumping in as soon as you get there. Not only will you beat the midday crowds, but the cooler morning temperatures make it a much more enjoyable experience. Speaking of temperatures, we visited in August, and by noon it was sweltering 90 degrees Fahrenheit!

For me, visiting Krka was one of the highlights of exploring Croatia. Having traveled to over 50 countries, I can confidently say this spot rivals some of the most beautiful natural wonders I’ve ever seen. The combination of vibrant waters, cascading falls, and the immersive experience of swimming beneath them makes Krka a destination you don’t want to miss.
Additional Tips
Start Early: Arrive as soon as the park opens to enjoy the tranquility and take photos without throngs of tourists in the background.
Bring Your Swimsuit: You’ll want to take full advantage of the swimming area in front of the falls. It’s a refreshing escape from the heat and a surreal way to connect with nature.
Wear water shoes: There are a lot of rocks you can slip on or stub your toe in the pools of water.
Stay Hydrated: The summer months can get brutally hot, so pack plenty of water and snacks.
Wear Comfortable Shoes: Exploring the park involves some walking, and you’ll want to be comfortable navigating the wooden boardwalks and trails.
