Wrightwood, in the San Gabriel Mountains along the San Andreas Fault, is a popular stop for backpackers traversing the Pacific Crest Trail. Just an hour and a half drive from Los Angeles, this charming mountain town offers excellent hiking and zip lining opportunities in the summer, and thrilling snowboarding at nearby Mountain High in the winter.
To Get There
The Ziplining Tour
We visited Wrightwood to experience the Canopy Tour with Ziplines at Pacific Crest. This exhilarating course, lasting about three and a half hours, features daring sky stairs, rappelling from high platforms, and soaring across nine ziplines, some reaching up to 300 feet above the forest floor.

The tour started with a brief ride to the trailhead, followed by a short hike to the first zipline. Under sunny skies and crisp mountain air rustling through the tall pine trees, we began our adventure. The initial ziplines were shorter, allowing us to get accustomed to the experience. Despite the small, elevated platforms, we were always securely clipped in. I felt completely safe throughout the trip thanks to the meticulous safety measures and our amazing guides!

The best parts of the trip is of course the longest zip lines! You can catch speeds up to 60mph with incredible views of the San Gabriels Mountains, the San Andreas fault line, tall pine trees, and the rolling fog that rests below the city’s mountains.

So basically, it’s a blast. Do it. You know you want to. 😉
