Sedona is a mystical wonderland of vortexes, spiritual awakening and towering red rocks. I’ve visited this city many times and it keeps drawing me back. In Sedona, life slows down to take in the moments, appreciate nature and varying energies. Your mind is opened up to new ideas on philosophy, food and culture. This post is a guide to what Sedona has to offer, from hiking to magical wand making.
To Get There.
Fly into Phoenix Airport and rent a car. Drive 2 hours north, or take the airport shuttle to Sedona.
Fly into Flagstaff airport and rent a car to drive nearly an hour south.
Fly into Sedona airport (very small, so this can get pricy).
Tip: Rent a car. It’s best to have a car here because public transportation is not great, walkability is low and ride-sharing drivers for Lyft and Uber are few and far between.
To Stay.
Sedona is relatively small, so there really isn’t a bad area to stay in. Here are a few well-rated choices for your stay.
The Wilde Resort and Spa – this beautiful abode features a full-service spa, an outdoor pool and a restaurant
Cozy Cactus Bed and Breakfast – cozy stay with beautiful views all around
Hyatt Residence Club Sedona, Piñon Pointe – great restaurants, luxurious rooms and unparalleled service

I have actually driven through Sedona once when we visited the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time to explore. I would definitely have loved to stop by at all these amazing spots, and even do a bit of hiking!
I absolutely love Sedona! My sister lives in Arizona and we go to Sedona pretty often. Those red rocks with mystique shapes are out of this world beautiful. I particularly like to hike those trails around town, but never tried a UTV to go off-road. Maybe I’ll try it next time I am in Arizona.
I visited Sedona many years ago with kids and loved the earthy vibe. The hikes through the Red Rocks look stunning. I think we all walked away with red dirt shirt (we bought them, if that is still a thing.) I would definitely visit the Chai Spot if I were to return.
Doing breath work sounds like a fabulous thing to do! I love AZ. I was only in Phoenix, Mesa, and Tempe, but I hear (and see!) that Sedona is more beautiful than them all. Such gorgeous photos!
Sedona is one of those places that has been on my bucket list for so long but I haven’t been able to make it there yet. I would love to enjoy any one of those hikes and off roading at Coconino Forest sounds like the perfect adventure.
Sedona is so pretty. My friend from Tucson recommended us to go there when we went to the Grand Canyon. Too bad we didn’t have enough time. I will make it happen though. I would like to hike the trails you recommend here. To see the Red Rocks basking in the soft glow of the sun will be amazing.
I had never heard of Sedona but it looks nice, fun and artistic too. I would love to start with the off-roading in Coconino National Forest, go on to hiking and then finally learn the art of making magical wands. It would also be great to check out the Chai spot and also boutique shops which sell gorgeous art pieces, crystals, tarot cards, pottery and more.
Wow this is a perfect plan and a complete guide. I have seen lot of posts of late on Sedona and experienced quite a bit reading them. But I love the detailed thoughts on the possible questions in the readers mind. Bookmarking for a visit sometime later.
